Last Updated: 2026-02-18
Your privacy is important to us. It is Motera's policy to respect your privacy regarding any information we may collect from you through our mobile application and website. We only ask for personal information when we truly need it to provide a service to you, and we collect it by fair and lawful means with your knowledge and consent.
1. Information We Collect
We collect the following types of data to provide and improve Motera:
- Account Information: When you sign up, we collect your name, email address, and profile photo through Google or Apple sign-in. This is used to create your account and display your identity on leaderboards.
- Location Data: We use GPS location data solely to track your running routes, calculate distance and pace, enable territory capture, and populate leaderboards. Location is only actively recorded when you start a run. We do not track or store your location outside of active running sessions. You can revoke location access at any time through your device settings, though this will limit app functionality.
- Activity Data: We collect data about your runs, including routes, distance, duration, pace, and territory captured. This data powers your stats, achievements, and leaderboard rankings.
- User Content: We collect user-generated content such as your profile photo to personalize your experience and display your identity on leaderboards and social features.
- Purchase Information: Subscription and payment data is processed by RevenueCat and Apple. We do not store your payment card details directly.
2. How We Use Your Data
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain the Motera app

3. Data Retention
We only retain collected information for as long as necessary to provide you with your requested service. Any data we store is protected within commercially acceptable means to prevent loss, theft, unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, use, or modification.
4. Data Deletion
You have the right to request the deletion of your account and associated data at any time. You can do this by navigating to Settings > Danger Zone > Delete Account within the app, or by contacting our support team via email. Upon request, we will permanently delete your account and all personal data within 30 days.
