Trail Running in Flinders Ranges
The Flinders Ranges stretch 430 km through the South Australian outback on Adnyamathanha Country, culminating in the spectacular Ikara-Flinders Ranges National Park. Wilpena Pound, a natural amphitheatre of ancient quartzite ridges, is the centrepiece of the park and one of the most striking geological features in the country. Trail running here is technical, remote, and physically demanding, with exposed ridge lines, rocky gorge floors, and significant elevation changes. The reward is extraordinary: ancient landscapes with fossil beds over 500 million years old, emus and yellow-footed rock wallabies as trail companions, and near-total silence.
