Cairns parkrun takes place on the iconic Cairns Esplanade boardwalk and foreshore path, one of the most tropical and unique parkrun settings in Australia. The flat course runs beside the Coral Sea with views of the mudflats, mangroves and the Coral Sea beyond. Starting early at 7am takes advantage of the cool part of the tropical morning.

The Course

The course follows the Cairns Esplanade shared path along the foreshore from the Esplanade Lagoon area. The sealed path is flat and wide with ocean and mangrove views throughout the out-and-back route. Wildlife sightings including birds and saltwater crocodile warning signs add a distinctly tropical atmosphere.

Parking

Free and paid parking is available along the Esplanade and in the Sheridan Street car parks nearby. The foreshore area is accessible and easy to navigate.

Public Transport

Cairns city centre is walkable from the Esplanade start. Local buses serve Sheridan Street which runs parallel to the Esplanade.

Post-Run Coffee

Caffiend on Grafton Street is a short walk inland from the Esplanade and one of Cairns' best specialty coffee spots for a post-run flat white.
